Where to find barbecue sauce in the grocery store

We helped you find hot pepper sauce before. Now it’s time to find spicy barbecue sauce in the grocery store. Barbecue sauce is a condiment often used as a marinade or topping for all kinds of meat. E.g. pork, chicken wings, or beef ribs.

It’s more popular in the southern region of the United States of America, and is mostly made out of vinegar, tomato paste, or sometimes onion powder and mustard.

If you’d like to find all its varieties in the grocery store, from low carb barbecue sauce to spicy barbecue sauce, we’ve got you covered.

How do you get barbecue sauce in a store?

The most common aisle to find barbecue sauce is the Condiment aisle. That’s where grocery stores stash their mustard, ketchup, peanut butter, and other kinds of sauces for cooking.

Some stores have a Delicatessen within them. The Deli holds ingredients such as meat, cheese, and sometimes items you could get at your local grocery store.

So you can check there for barbecue sauce. But if you have no luck there, try asking a store employee to guide you to the right aisle.

Walmart

Walmart has a Condiment aisle where you can access multiple brands of barbecue sauce. They’re also available on the store’s online platform, so you can just order from there.

Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods Market sells some of the best organic food products, so you’ll mostly find low carb barbecue sauce.

For starters, you can try their Kansas City Love barbecue sauce. Unfortunately, you can’t order it from the online store.

But it’s available for pickup at any of the Whole Foods Market outlets. Just look out for the International aisle.

Kroger

Kroger is the place to go if you want to get the cheapest deals on grocery items. Starting with just a dollar, you can grab Kroger’s own brand of barbecue sauce. It’s located at aisle 3, so you can stop by the store’s outlets to pick it up.

Meijer

Like Kroger, Meijer offers some of the best deals on grocery items. Currently, it has a lot of barbecue sauce brands on sale, so you might want to hurry up and grab what you can before it’s over. Be sure to check aisle 8.

Publix

Now that Publix has ended its divisive one-way aisle policy in most stores, it’ll be much easier for you to find barbecue sauce there. It’s in the Sauces aisle. But if you don’t find it there, you can also stop by the Refrigerator section of the meat department.

Safeway

Safeway has a Condiment aisle where you can check for barbecue sauce. There’s also an International aisle there, in case you don’t find it in the former.

What can I use instead of barbecue sauce?

The best you can get to a barbecue sauce substitute is plain old ketchup.

Though the flavor is not as intense as that of barbecue sauce, ketchup has the same consistency you need to lace your meat with.

Heinz tomato ketchup

Alternatively, you can use Teriyaki. It’s a Japanese sauce that goes well with grilled meats.

Unlike ketchup, it’s nicely flavored with soy sauce, sake, sugar and ginger.
